Movers in Surrey, BC

Moving in Surrey usually means a house with a suite, a townhouse complex or an acreage; only 5% of Surrey homes are in towers. We plan for both units of a house with a suite, visitor parking in the townhouse complexes, and Surrey's truck-route rules on the way in. Locally owned, with better labour prices than the big franchises, no hidden fees, and we answer our own phones.

Moving in Surrey: what to know

Surrey is a city of houses and townhouses. In the 2021 Census, a third of Surrey homes (33%) were single-detached houses and 17% were row houses, while only 5% were in buildings of five or more storeys. Another 23% were what the Census calls an apartment or flat in a duplex: one of two homes stacked one above the other, like a main floor with a suite below. About 30% of households rent, and nearly 80,000 residents had moved in the year before.

So a Surrey move is usually a whole house: garages, basements, sheds and often a suite. Many moves into Newton, Fleetwood, Cloverdale and South Surrey are upsizes from a condo in Vancouver or Burnaby. And Surrey is big, which makes distance and timing part of the plan.

Homes and buildings: moving day in Surrey

Houses with suites. Moving a whole house in Newton, Fleetwood or Panorama Ridge usually means a garage, a basement and sometimes a suite with its own entrance. Tell us about each part when you book, and whether the suite is moving too or staying behind.

Townhouse complexes. In Clayton and East Clayton, visitor parking is almost always the limit. Tell us where the truck can stop and how far that is from your door.

Acreage. Long gravel driveways in Cloverdale and Port Kells are fine, but tell us in advance: a loaded truck on soft ground is how driveways get damaged.

Towers. City Centre and Guildford buildings want the elevator and loading bay booked ahead, often outside peak hours. Book the window with your building and we size the crew to finish inside it.

What every Surrey move includes

  • Moving blankets and plastic wrap for furniture, dollies and straps for heavy pieces, and floor protection.
  • Beds, tables and other furniture taken apart where needed and put back together at the new place.
  • A crew sized to your home: usually 2 movers for a studio or one-bedroom, 3 for two or three bedrooms, and 4 for larger homes.
  • No travel fee, and no extra charge for stairs, a long carry or a building without an elevator.
  • Moves 7 days a week. A few days' notice is usually enough.
  • Boxes and supplies for sale: cardboard and wardrobe boxes, mattress and TV covers, tape, packing paper and bubble wrap.
  • Storage if there's a gap between moving out and moving in.
  • Anything you're not taking hauled away in the same booking.

As a rough guide, a one-bedroom move takes 3 to 4 hours, a two-bedroom 4 to 6 hours and a three-bedroom 6 to 9 hours. If you need to cancel a booked move, the deposit isn't refunded, but it can be moved to a new date.

Condo moves: you book the elevator and loading bay with your building. If your strata charges a fee for the move, BC's Strata Property Regulation allows a fee for using common property only when it is reasonable and set out in a bylaw or a ratified rule (section 6.9, checked 1 October 2026).

Parking the moving truck in Surrey

Surrey has its own truck rules. A heavy truck, over 11,800 kg licensed gross vehicle weight, has to stay on Surrey's Truck Route Network except for local deliveries, and then take the shortest way from the truck route to the address and back. Trucks over 5,000 kg can only be parked in certain zones or at designated truck parking facilities; on other streets a heavy truck may stop only temporarily, while making a delivery.

In practice, plan for the truck to arrive, load and go, rather than sit outside for days. In a townhouse complex, check with your strata where a moving truck may stop and for how long.

Before moving day in Surrey

  • Tell us which parts of Surrey you're moving from and to. It's a big city, and it shapes the schedule.
  • Moving out of a suite with a hard end date? Give us the date, not the preferred day, and we'll work back from it.
  • In a townhouse complex, check with your strata where a moving truck may stop.
  • On acreage, mention gravel, long driveways and outbuildings before the day.
  • Corrugated cardboard is banned from garbage at Metro Vancouver's recycling and waste centres, including Central Surrey and North Surrey, so flatten the boxes for recycling after the move.

Moving to or from Surrey

Many Surrey moves are upsizes coming out from Vancouver and Burnaby, and others stay close, to White Rock, Langley or North Delta. Local moves are priced by the size of the home, as the table above shows, with no travel fee. We also do seniors' moves and downsizing, and can haul away whatever isn't coming in the same booking.

From Surrey, our long-distance moves run within BC, for example to Kelowna, Kamloops or Prince George, and to Alberta, such as Calgary or Edmonton. Long-distance moves within BC currently run $2,000 to $9,000, and moves to Alberta $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the size of the home and the distance.

Questions

Straight answers

How much do movers cost in Surrey?

Surrey moves are often whole houses, and they're priced by the size of the home. A studio or one-bedroom move is a flat $599, and a 20% deposit ($120) books the date. Two-bedroom homes run $800 to $1,400 and three-bedroom homes $1,200 to $2,000; hourly moves are $120 to $180 an hour for 2 movers and a truck. There is no travel fee.

Do you move houses with basement suites in Surrey?

Yes. We move the main house and the suite in one booking, or just the suite between tenants. Tell us about each part, and whether the suite is staying behind, when you book.

Where can a moving truck park in Surrey?

Surrey only lets trucks over 5,000 kg park in certain zones or at designated truck parking facilities, and heavy trucks may stop on other streets only temporarily, while making a delivery. So the truck arrives, loads and goes. In a townhouse complex, check with your strata where it may stop.

Do you do seniors' moves and downsizing in South Surrey?

Yes. We do seniors' moves and downsizing across Surrey, and we can haul away whatever isn't coming in the same booking.

Do you move from Surrey to Kelowna, Kamloops or Calgary?

Yes. Long-distance moves within BC currently run $2,000 to $9,000, and moves to Alberta $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the size of the home and the distance. We don't move households beyond Alberta.
