New Westminster is an apartment city, so most moves here are towers, low-rise walk-ups or heritage houses split into suites. Resident permit parking covers many streets, and using part of the road for the truck takes a Street Occupancy Permit, so we plan the truck's spot first. Locally owned, with better labour prices than the big franchises, no hidden fees, and we answer our own phones.
New Westminster is an apartment city. In the 2021 Census, 35% of its homes were in buildings of five or more storeys and another 35% in low-rise apartment buildings, while only 14% were single-detached houses. 45% of households rent, and about 12,200 residents had moved in the year before.
It's also old. New West was incorporated in 1859 and was British Columbia's first capital, so a lot of its housing is older stock: heritage houses with narrow staircases, and low-rise blocks that never got an elevator. There are condo towers too, along the Quay, and Queensborough sits apart from the rest of the city at the upstream end of Lulu Island.
Walk-ups. Many older apartment blocks have no elevator, so every couch and dresser leaves by the stairwell. There's no extra charge for the stairs; tell us how many flights there are and how tight the turns are.
Heritage houses. Queen's Park and the older neighbourhoods have heritage houses with narrow, turning staircases. Where a bed frame or table won't make the turn, we take it apart and put it back together at the other end.
Towers. Downtown and Quayside towers mean elevator bookings and strata rules. Book your window and send it to us.
Resident permit parking. Some New West blocks are signed for resident permit parking. Say so when you book, so we can plan where the truck stops.

As a rough guide, a one-bedroom move takes 3 to 4 hours, a two-bedroom 4 to 6 hours and a three-bedroom 6 to 9 hours. If you need to cancel a booked move, the deposit isn't refunded, but it can be moved to a new date.
Condo moves: you book the elevator and loading bay with your building. If your strata charges a fee for the move, BC's Strata Property Regulation allows a fee for using common property only when it is reasonable and set out in a bylaw or a ratified rule (section 6.9, checked 1 October 2026).
If the truck needs part of the street, New Westminster requires a Street Occupancy Permit for the temporary closure of any portion of a road, lane, path, sidewalk or other City right-of-way, and moving trucks are among the applications the City lists. Allow 5 to 10 business days. In 2026 the application and traffic-plan review fee starts at $128 per permit, and a permit that uses on-street parking spaces also pays the temporary no-parking sign installation fee.
After a snowfall, the City clears lanes only for a medical emergency or other special circumstance, so a move planned for the lane may have to load from the street instead.
New Westminster sits between Burnaby and Coquitlam, with Surrey across the Fraser, and Queensborough is on Lulu Island next to Richmond, so most local moves are short. They're priced by the size of the home, as the table above shows, with no travel fee.
We also move households within BC and to Alberta. Long-distance moves within BC currently run $2,000 to $9,000, and moves to Alberta $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the size of the home and the distance.

Questions
From a Quayside tower to a walk-up with no elevator, the price depends on the size of the home, not the stairs. A studio or one-bedroom move is a flat $599, and a 20% deposit ($120) books the date. Two-bedroom homes run $800 to $1,400 and three-bedroom homes $1,200 to $2,000; hourly moves are $120 to $180 an hour for 2 movers and a truck. There is no travel fee.
If the truck will occupy part of a road, lane or sidewalk, the City requires a Street Occupancy Permit, and moving trucks are among the applications it lists. Allow 5 to 10 business days; in 2026 the fee starts at $128, plus a sign fee if parking spaces are used.
