Movers in Port Moody, BC

Port Moody moves run from the Suter Brook and Klahanie towers near the water to hillside homes on Heritage Mountain and in College Park. Towers mean an elevator booking, hillside homes mean steep driveways, and weekday street parking beside someone else's home is limited to three hours, so we plan the truck's spot ahead. Locally owned, with better labour prices than the big franchises, no hidden fees, and we answer our own phones.

Moving in Port Moody: what to know

Port Moody runs from the Suter Brook and Klahanie towers near the waterfront up to hillside homes on Heritage Mountain and in College Park. In the 2021 Census, 30% of its homes were single-detached houses, 20% row houses, 24% low-rise apartments and 14% in buildings of five or more storeys. About 24% of households rent, and roughly 4,100 residents had moved in the year before.

That split, towers below and hills above, shapes most moves here: an elevator booking at one end of town, a steep driveway at the other. Anmore, Belcarra and Ioco sit just beyond, and we serve them too.

Homes and buildings: moving day in Port Moody

Towers near the water. Suter Brook and Klahanie moves run on the building's elevator and loading-bay bookings. Book yours and send us the window.

Hillside homes. Heritage Mountain, Heritage Woods and College Park climb the slopes, often with steep driveways and long carries between the house and the truck. There's no extra charge for either; tell us about them so we send enough movers.

Townhouses. One Port Moody home in five is a row house. In a complex, ask the strata where a moving truck can stop.

What every Port Moody move includes

  • Moving blankets and plastic wrap for furniture, dollies and straps for heavy pieces, and floor protection.
  • Beds, tables and other furniture taken apart where needed and put back together at the new place.
  • A crew sized to your home: usually 2 movers for a studio or one-bedroom, 3 for two or three bedrooms, and 4 for larger homes.
  • No travel fee, and no extra charge for stairs, a long carry or a building without an elevator.
  • Moves 7 days a week. A few days' notice is usually enough.
  • Boxes and supplies for sale: cardboard and wardrobe boxes, mattress and TV covers, tape, packing paper and bubble wrap.
  • Storage if there's a gap between moving out and moving in.
  • Anything you're not taking hauled away in the same booking.

As a rough guide, a one-bedroom move takes 3 to 4 hours, a two-bedroom 4 to 6 hours and a three-bedroom 6 to 9 hours. If you need to cancel a booked move, the deposit isn't refunded, but it can be moved to a new date.

Condo moves: you book the elevator and loading bay with your building. If your strata charges a fee for the move, BC's Strata Property Regulation allows a fee for using common property only when it is reasonable and set out in a bylaw or a ratified rule (section 6.9, checked 1 October 2026).

Parking the moving truck in Port Moody

Port Moody's street rules matter on moving day. No vehicle may park beside someone else's residential property for more than three hours between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. In multi-family areas near Inlet Centre and Moody Centre stations, street parking is signed for four hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. And pay parking applies in five areas, including Rocky Point Park's lots, Esplanade Avenue, Murray Street and the streets of Suter Brook Village. Tell us where the truck can stop.

After snow, Port Moody plows Priority 1 and 2 roads around the clock but Priority 3 roads only during weekday business hours, so a hillside move after a snowfall may have to wait for the plow.

Before moving day in Port Moody

  • Tell us how steep the driveway is and how far your door is from where a truck can stop.
  • In a Suter Brook or Klahanie tower, book the elevator or loading bay first, then send us the window.
  • If the only spot for the truck is beside a neighbour's house, tell us: Port Moody limits that to three hours on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Keep bagged garbage inside until the move is done. The City calls garbage and green waste carts the number one bear attractant.
  • Need a bigger garbage cart once you've unpacked? Upsizing from 120 to 240 litres is a one-time $60 fee plus a pro-rated disposal charge on your utility bill.

Moving to or from Port Moody

Port Moody is in the Tri-Cities with Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam, with Burnaby just to the west, so most local moves are short, and moves to Anmore, Belcarra and Ioco are no different. They're priced by the size of the home, as the table above shows, with no travel fee.

We also move households within BC and to Alberta. Long-distance moves within BC currently run $2,000 to $9,000, and moves to Alberta $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the size of the home and the distance.

Questions

Straight answers

How much do movers cost in Port Moody?

A Suter Brook condo and a Heritage Mountain house are both priced by the size of the home, not the elevator or the hill. A studio or one-bedroom move is a flat $599, and a 20% deposit ($120) books the date. Two-bedroom homes run $800 to $1,400 and three-bedroom homes $1,200 to $2,000; hourly moves are $120 to $180 an hour for 2 movers and a truck. There is no travel fee.

How long can a moving truck park on a Port Moody street?

Beside someone else's home, up to three hours between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays. Near Inlet Centre and Moody Centre stations, multi-family streets are signed for four hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, and some areas, such as Suter Brook Village, are pay parking.

Do you charge extra for steep driveways on Heritage Mountain?

No. Steep driveways and long carries never change the price. Tell us about them so we send enough movers.

Do you move to Anmore, Belcarra and Ioco?

Yes. We serve the communities just beyond Port Moody too, at the same prices and with no travel fee.

Do you move from Port Moody to the Interior or Alberta?

Yes. Long-distance moves within BC currently run $2,000 to $9,000, and moves to Alberta $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the size of the home and the distance. We don't move households beyond Alberta.
