Movers in Mission, BC

Moving in Mission usually means a house: nearly two-thirds of homes are single-detached, many on hillside lots or acreages toward Silverdale and Hatzic. Large trucks can't park in residential areas, so we plan to load and go, with enough movers for the slope, the stairs and the sheds. Locally owned, with better labour prices than the big franchises, no hidden fees, and we answer our own phones.

Moving in Mission: what to know

Mission sits on the north side of the Fraser River, and it is mostly houses. In the 2021 Census, 65% of its homes were single-detached houses and 19% were apartments or flats in a duplex, the Census term for one of two homes stacked one above the other, like a main floor with a suite below. About 23% of households rent.

Moves here are often larger homes on hillside lots or rural acreages toward Silverdale and Hatzic, with long driveways and sheds to empty. Many are longer moves to or from Metro Vancouver, so drive time is a real part of the day, and we plan for it.

Homes and buildings: moving day in Mission

Hillside homes. Newer subdivisions on the slopes can mean sloping driveways and stairs. There's no extra charge for them; tell us about them so we send enough movers.

Acreages. Toward Silverdale and Hatzic, long driveways, sheds and outbuildings are common. Tell us how far they are from where the truck can park, and whether the lane is gravel.

Suites. Nearly one Mission home in five is a main floor or a suite in a two-unit house. Tell us whether both units are moving.

What every Mission move includes

  • Moving blankets and plastic wrap for furniture, dollies and straps for heavy pieces, and floor protection.
  • Beds, tables and other furniture taken apart where needed and put back together at the new place.
  • A crew sized to your home: usually 2 movers for a studio or one-bedroom, 3 for two or three bedrooms, and 4 for larger homes.
  • No travel fee, and no extra charge for stairs, a long carry or a building without an elevator.
  • Moves 7 days a week. A few days' notice is usually enough.
  • Boxes and supplies for sale: cardboard and wardrobe boxes, mattress and TV covers, tape, packing paper and bubble wrap.
  • Storage if there's a gap between moving out and moving in.
  • Anything you're not taking hauled away in the same booking.

As a rough guide, a one-bedroom move takes 3 to 4 hours, a two-bedroom 4 to 6 hours and a three-bedroom 6 to 9 hours. If you need to cancel a booked move, the deposit isn't refunded, but it can be moved to a new date.

Condo moves: you book the elevator and loading bay with your building. If your strata charges a fee for the move, BC's Strata Property Regulation allows a fee for using common property only when it is reasonable and set out in a bylaw or a ratified rule (section 6.9, checked 1 October 2026).

Parking the moving truck in Mission

Mission's Traffic Regulation Bylaw doesn't allow trucks or commercial vehicles over 5,500 kg licensed gross vehicle weight to park in residential areas, so a large moving truck loads and leaves rather than staying parked on your street. Downtown, parking is limited to 2 hours; no vehicle may sit on the roadside for more than 48 hours without moving, or block a sidewalk, walking strip or boulevard.

Closing any part of a street, lane or sidewalk needs a City Street Use Permit, which asks for a $5 million insurance certificate naming the City and an approved traffic management plan.

Before moving day in Mission

  • On an acreage, tell us how long the driveway is and how far the sheds are from where the truck can park.
  • On a hillside lot, mention the slope and the stairs at both ends.
  • A few extra bags of garbage after packing? Mission allows two cans, and extra bags need a $5.75 sticker each on your regular pickup day, with nothing out the night before.
  • Mission switches to automated collection carts in May 2027; if you're moving around then, check the City's cart schedule for your new address.
  • Not taking everything? We can haul away what isn't coming in the same booking.

Moving to or from Mission

Many Mission moves are longer ones to or from Metro Vancouver, along the Lougheed Highway through Maple Ridge or across the river to Abbotsford and Highway 1, and drive time is part of the plan. Local moves are priced by the size of the home, as the table above shows.

We move households within BC and to Alberta. Long-distance moves within BC currently run $2,000 to $9,000, and moves to Alberta $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the size of the home and the distance.

Yes. Tell us how long the driveway is and how far the sheds are from where the truck can park.
