White Rock is small, 5.12 square kilometres and about 22,000 people, and much of it is hill. It rises from the beach on Semiahmoo Bay and the Waterfront along Marine Drive up to Uptown, and the City's eight hillside walkways, 1.5 km of them, link the two. Many homes sit on steep lots with long stairs down to the street, and condos near the beach have little loading space.
Two City rules shape what people call us for. First, White Rock's curbside program does not pick up large and special items at all: the City tells residents to take them to a depot. Second, City collection is by hand, so every garbage bin has to weigh 22 kg or less. A couch, a mattress or a garage's worth of boxes isn't something the curbside crew will ever take.
We also serve South Surrey next door. It shares White Rock's nearest regional drop-off, the Central Surrey Recycling and Waste Centre, and the local detail for it is on our Surrey page.
