West Vancouver jobs are shaped by the slope. Homes in the British Properties sit on steep hillside driveways, long stair runs are common, and the streets of Ambleside and Dundarave are narrow. Pianos, large furniture and full-house clear-outs come up often, and so do estate and downsizing cleanouts.
The District's own rules explain the rest. Garbage is collected every other week, in cans you buy yourself, with a limit of 154 litres a home and 20 kg a container. Oversized items, construction materials, and dirt, rocks and sod are not collected at the curb at all, and for large loads the District sends residents to the North Shore Recycling and Waste Centre on Riverside Drive in North Vancouver. So a sofa, a basement of boxes or a renovation's worth of debris either goes over the bridge in your own vehicle, or with us.
Bears are part of it too. The District says eighty percent of human–bear interactions on the North Shore are caused by badly managed waste.
